Exhibitions and workshops
Sabadel, Lot, France 2018
A group exhibition with photography exhibited by my husband, Gerard Beattie, and theatrical figurines by local sculptor, Lydie Quany at Sabadel, a beautiful spot in the Lot valley, at the start of the pilgrimage route to Spain. It was a very lively Private view, following a long, leisurely outdoor meal to celebrate the ‘vernissage’ as the hanging of the event is known. I was so surprised that, in addition to some French poetry inspirations, an Irish Gaelic blessing poem also proved popular and found a new home in France.

Worcester Cathedral July 2022: ‘Letters, Leaves and Light’
An exhibition to celebrate 40 years of showing work in a variety of venues, with a particular focus on intricate pattern in botanical subjects along with calligraphic and landscape pieces. Due to structural alterations in the Dean’s chapel, this exhibition was displayed along the South cloister. Yet again, a well loved Shakespearian quote with a pansy illustration, in memory of Teresa Emery, my mother, found a new home, this time in Sweden.

Worcester Cathedral: ‘Sacred Spaces and the Written Word’ 2016 Dean’s Chapel
Sacred Spaces and the Written Word, an exhibition of 2016, brought together my work in calligraphy, drawing and acrylic paintings. It took place over three weeks in the spacious setting of the Dean’s Chapel. Drawings and paintings of cloister and spandrel details proved popular and a calligraphy workshop for adult recreational students was also held in the Lady chapel during the period of the exhibition.

Workshops/short courses
I have been teaching workshops and courses for all age ranges since 1986 at a variety of venues. They have included fundraisers for CAFOD and MND, in addition to educational/recreational courses in schools, churches and cathedral settings, Royal Shakespeare Company production workshop, National Exhibition Centre and various colleges. Watercolour and acrylic painting workshops are included, along with drawing workshops, oil and soft pastel techniques, botanical drawing and sketching (beginners and improvers) and calligraphy (all levels).
My regular short courses (approximately 8 weeks duration) aim to develop fine art, illustration amd calligraphic skills and knowledge through experience of a range of media and art history explorations. I am currently teaching a course for adult recreational students at the Commandery Museum, Worcester.
