Drawing

As a child I loved to draw and the excitement of drawing remains with me. Among my favourite subjects for drawing are pencil portraiture and landscapes in graphite, pencil crayon, and oil pastel, sometimes combining media together. Simple swift marks can evoke fleeting moments of light in a landscape or expression in a face. My drawings are always from direct observation which provides a real engagement with my subject and drawing also informs and directs my design work. It is one of the most absorbing, challenging, revealing and joyful experiences in my life.
