Calligraphy

During the 1980s calligraphy experienced a renaissance in the UK. Internationally known tutors such as Peter Thornton, Stan Knight, Gaynor Goffe and Gemma Black enabled my work to progress through part- time courses and to achieve a CLAS Advanced Diploma awarded in 2016. I have since developed and tutored a variety of workshops and created exemplar materials. These examine a range of traditional and contemporary scripts from Anglo-Saxon, Celtic and Italic variants to more contemporary styles and some courses also include gilding and simple bookmaking. I have regularly participated in group calligraphic exhibitions, beginning at Imperial College, London (SSI Lay Members) British Library, London, in annual events organised by CLAS (Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society) and more recently in Worcestershire Open Studios at Malvern School of Art until 2020.
